Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Actuary to join our team in Newark New Jersey. The Actuary will be responsible for analyzing data assessing risk and developing strategies to help our company make informed business decisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics statistics and finance as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze data to determine the likelihood and potential impact of events such as accidents illnesses and natural disasters
- Use mathematical models and statistical techniques to assess risk and predict future trends
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize risk and maximize profitability for the company
- Collaborate with other departments to evaluate and improve existing insurance policies and develop new ones
- Communicate complex data and analysis to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in regulations to ensure compliance and inform business decisions
- Mentor and train junior actuaries and provide guidance on complex projects
- Participate in meetings and presentations with clients to discuss risk assessment and insurance options
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of insurance products and make recommendations for improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in mathematics statistics actuarial science or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an Actuary in the insurance industry
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent mathematical and statistical knowledge
- Proficient in data analysis and modeling software
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Professional certification from the Society of Actuaries or similar organization preferred
