This position is located at the  Veterans Home of California - Lancaster. The Physician & Surgeon provides primary care in general medicine to residents through routine and regular medical evaluations.

Working Conditions

Employees of CalVet will be required to follow state or county public health guidelines and requirements enacted in accordance with infectious disease prevention and control.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) a(n) California Medical License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

Veterans may qualify for a CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference. Military service must be included in the Employment History section of the Employment Applications (STD. 678). The application package must include documentation of discharge, appropriate to the branch of service. The documentation must reflect a discharge/release under conditions other than dishonorable. If the candidate fails to include this information then the CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference shall not be granted in the recruitment.

Successful completion of a live scan and a pre-employment physical (including drug testing for certain civil service classifications) will be required.

On-call during business hours outside of clinic hours.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the Medical Board of California or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners. Preferably, current and active experience in primary care or general medicine.

A complete application package includes: a STD. 678 and Resume.

If your eligibility requires that you meet the Minimum Qualifications of the class and you qualify under pattern requiring education, then the selected candidate will be required to provide college transcripts prior to appointment.
