Job Description

The DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport Convention Center is seeking an experienced Maintenance - Plumber to join our team. This position is 100% on-site no remote work.


The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport Convention Center is conveniently situated just south of Miami International Airport off the Dolphin Expressway adjacent to the Blue Lagoon Business District. The hotel features 334 guestrooms onsite dining fitness room outdoor pool business center complimentary High-Speed Internet Access 24000 square feet of retail space 20000 Square feet of Hotel Meeting and Function Space and a Convention Center with 152000 square feet of meeting event and exhibit space.

The Maintenance - Plumber position will be a non-exempt and will report to theMaintenance Assistant Manager.

A Maintenance - Plumber is responsible for maintaining the integrity and reliability of all water and drainage systems throughout the property. This includes ensuring guest rooms kitchens laundry facilities and public areas have consistent water pressure proper drainage and fully functioning fixtures. The role focuses on both preventive maintenance and timely repairs to minimize disruptions to guests and operations. Additionally the plumber supports compliance with safety and health standards responds to emergencies efficiently and works closely with the engineering team to uphold overall facility performance and guest satisfaction to meet AFP Management standards.

Job Responsibilities/ Functions:

  • Maintain and repair all guest room plumbing (toilets sinks showers bathtubs)
  • Ensure consistent hot and cold water supply throughout the property
  • Address and repair leaks (pipes faucets valves) promptly to prevent damage
  • Clear clogged drains and sewer lines in guest rooms kitchens and public areas
  • Maintain proper water pressure across all floors and outlets
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with AFP Management standards as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working.
  • Always comply with AFP Management standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of hotel rooms public areas back-of-house spaces and convention areas
  • Inspect and maintain sump pumps grease traps and backflow preventers
  • Monitor and service water filtration and softening systems
  • Identify potential issues early to avoid guest disruption
  • Respond quickly to plumbing emergencies (flooding pipe bursts backups)
  • Shut off and isolate water systems when needed to minimize damage
  • Coordinate with engineering and management during major incidents
  • Ensure functionality and upkeep of escalators elevators and high-traffic entry systems
  • Maintain lighting systems including ballrooms meeting rooms exhibit halls and exterior areas
  • Respond to guest work orders quickly and professionally
  • Minimize downtime in occupied rooms and public areas
  • Communicate clearly with housekeeping and front office on room status
  • Evaluate and spot check the work of all staff and contractors or outside laborers.
  • Attend monthly all-employee meetings and any other functions required by management.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers employees and other departments.
  • Always use proper two-way radio etiquette when communicating with other employees.

Qualifications/ Skills:

  • Must be effective at listening to understanding clarifying and resolving the Concerns and issues raised by coworkers and guests.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions.
  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; or a 2-year college degree and 2 or more years of related experience; or a 4-year college degree and at least 2 years or related experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Certification as required by Federal State or Local governing agents pertaining to trade requirements (i.e. HVAC pool operation electrical) property specific.
  • Must have a valid drivers license for the applicable state.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
