JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Training Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving manufacturing training programs that support workforce readiness, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance. Working closely with manufacturing leaders, subject matter experts, and peer trainers, this role ensures training standards are established, effectively executed, and sustained.

This role maintains ongoing accountability for the effectiveness of manufacturing training at the site. In addition to program ownership and continuous improvement, the Training Specialist is directly involved in training delivery, qualification evaluation, and training system governance to ensure consistent standards, compliance, and workforce capability. The role operates with a high degree of independence and professional judgment.

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Training Program Ownership

  • Design, implement, and improve manufacturing training programs aligned with operational, safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Assess workforce capability, identify skill gaps, and determine appropriate training solutions in collaboration with leaders and SMEs.
  • Own onboarding and role‑based development programs to ensure job readiness and long‑term skill progression.
  • Analyze training effectiveness using qualification data, operational metrics, and stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement.

Training Execution & Qualification

  • Instruct manufacturing skills training during onboarding and ongoing operations as needed to ensure readiness and consistency.
  • Perform and validate qualification evaluations for associates according to defined standards and job requirements.
  • Support cross‑training and upskilling efforts based on safety, quality, productivity, and performance metrics.
  • Develop, adapt, and deliver training materials for job role foundations, work standardization, skill gaps, and upskilling.
  • Support and coach peer trainers to ensure consistent application of training standards and qualification processes.

Compliance, Systems & Metrics

  • Maintain manufacturing training curricula aligned with internal standards and external regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, OSHA, FDA as applicable).
  • Manage training records, qualification documentation, and recertification processes within the LMS.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report training and qualification metrics; communicate status and risks to stakeholders.

Learning Tools & Innovation

  • Maintain strong LMS proficiency (preferably SAP SuccessFactors Learning) to support training administration and reporting.
  • Research and evaluate learning technologies and methods; lead pilots and integration of new tools (e.g., LMS enhancements, digital or AI‑enabled learning solutions) to improve training scalability, consistency, and impact.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Independent judgment and accountability for manufacturing training effectiveness and compliance.
  • Experience supporting training in manufacturing environments, including job qualification and work standardization.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and influence skills across operational and functional stakeholders.
  • Data driven approach to evaluating training effectiveness and workforce readiness.
  • Strong technical skills using LMS platforms and Microsoft Office tools.

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Workforce Development, Organizational Development, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Human Resources, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum three (3) or more years of progressively responsible experience in manufacturing training, workforce development, or instructional roles.
  • Experience delivering, evaluating, and improving training programs supporting production operations, quality systems, safety compliance, and technical skills.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience developing digital or blended learning content using Articulate 360 and/or Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Captivate, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere).
  • Experience converting instructor led training into eLearning, microlearning, or performance support tools.
  • Working knowledge of ISO, OSHA, FDA, or similar manufacturing regulatory frameworks.

Total Rewards Package :

Compensation

  • Base: $54,075 to $73,813 annually, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
  • Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
