POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is responsible for providing expert assessment, treatment, consultation, planning, and leadership oversight for optimal lactation management in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

The provider will support patients with advanced lactation needs, develop interdisciplinary care plans, and coordinate with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality breastfeeding education, support, and patient outcomes.

SCHEDULE:

• 8-hour non-billable orientation provided
• Assignment requires flexibility for inpatient and outpatient lactation support coverage
• Holiday and overtime multipliers apply

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide advanced lactation consultation and breastfeeding support
• Perform inpatient and outpatient lactation assessments and treatment planning
• Deliver prenatal and postpartum lactation education and consultations
• Develop interdisciplinary plans of care for patients requiring advanced lactation support
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and care teams regarding patient care plans
• Provide leadership oversight for lactation program management and best practices
• Maintain accurate documentation and clinical communication

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

• Will consider RN, OT, PT, SLP, or Pharmacist candidates if all job requirements are met
• All candidates must hold an active Massachusetts license
• Minimum 1+ year experience as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC/BCLC) required
• Minimum 2,500 hours as a breastfeeding consultant required
• Experience with inpatient lactation programs required
• Outpatient prenatal and postpartum lactation education/consultation experience required
• Meditech Expanse experience strongly preferred
• Traveler must have their own vehicle for the assignment
• No local candidates (must live more than 50 miles away)

• Work History
• Skills Checklist – Lactation Consultant or equivalent (current within 1 year)
• 1 Supervisory Signed Reference (within the past 2 years)
• Board Certification
• Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
• Permanent address included in profile
• All certifications must be in hand at profile upload (pending documents will not be accepted)
• All Requested Time Off (RTO) must be included at submission

IMPORTANT SCHEDULING NOTE:

All scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of application. Requests made after submission or offer will not be approved and may result in offer withdrawal. Maximum accepted RTO is 5 days (less is preferred).
