Job Summary

The Telecom Engineer will support the design, testing, deployment, and optimization of wireless communication systems, including private LTE (pLTE) networks. This role combines RF engineering, field validation, site surveys, construction drawing reviews, and wireless infrastructure support, utilizing tools such as Infovista Planet and GIS platforms. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams and wireless equipment vendors to ensure successful project execution from design through implementation.

 

Job Description

  • Execute wireless engineering activities across the full project lifecycle—from initial survey and design through implementation, testing, and optimization.
  • Support installation and commissioning efforts in the field.
  • Perform link budget calculations, reliability analysis, and path feasibility studies for wireless systems.
  • Design, model, and optimize wireless technologies, such as Narrow Band, LTE/5G, Land Mobile Radio, using Infovista Planet, including coverage analysis, frequency assignment, and interference analysis.
  • Participate in field cabinet designs where radios/modems, switches, routers, battery back up
  • Be able to generate Bill of Material for a particular design.
  • Familiarity with grounding standards when it comes to field installation.
  • Support client field requests and design options.
  • Serve as a technical specialist for engineering concepts to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project management to meet project scope, schedule, and budget goals.
  • Create comprehensive Bill of Materials (BoM) for telecom sites related to electric utilities.
  • Document and implement site installation standards including grounding for telecom equipment.
  • Provide guidance on construction drawings.
  • Support equipment installation and site integration on-site.

 

Skills Required

  • 2-5 years of wireless communications related work experience
  • Utility experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with clients facing presentations and delivering technical workshops
  • Experience writing and delivering MOPs, processes, testing procedures and technical documents
  • Working knowledge of RF design and engineering design principles, guides and standards.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Specific product knowledge and hands-on configuration experience on a variety of radio vendors is preferred.
  • Experience testing wireless systems.

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other engineering degree related to Communications
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred
