Shop Manager | Portage, MI

Salary Range: $84,000 - $129,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shop floor operations, ensuring efficient workflow and production targets are met.
• Manage and mentor a team of production staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure and compliant work environment.
• Monitor inventory levels, raw material procurement, and finished goods management to optimize stock and minimize waste.
• Ensure quality control standards are upheld throughout the manufacturing process, addressing any deviations promptly.
• Manage the maintenance and upkeep of machinery and equipment, scheduling repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, sales, and logistics, to ensure seamless production and delivery.
• Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement in productivity, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience in manufacturing operations management.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent understanding of production processes and quality control.
• Demonstrated ability to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Experience with inventory management and supply chain principles.
• Proficiency in relevant manufacturing software and tools.

• - Experience with Lean manufacturing principles.
• - Certification in a relevant trade or technical field.
