SALARY $55,000 - $65,000 annually) dependent upon experience

TERMS 40 hours per week, flexible schedule, In-person, regularly scheduled evenings and occasional weekends required

WHAT WE DO:

The Young Women’s Resource Center (YWRC) is a non-profit organization that supports, educates, and champions for participants ages 8-24. YWRC participants include anyone who identifies or has been socialized as female. Through small groups and individual support, the YWRC provides programming for all participants, no matter what they may be going through. The YWRC’s unique structure features three branches of programming - Counseling, Girls Inc., and Young Moms - to better serve the members of our community throughout various stages of life along with other services that meet participants’ essential needs and remove barriers to their participation. Our programs and services enable participants’ self-determination so they can set and achieve goals that are personally meaningful to them and that support their long-term independence.

Position Summary

The Senior Fund Development Manager is a key member of the fund development team, responsible for managing several aspects of YWRC’s fundraising strategy. Key duties include managing and executing YWRC’s grant program, annual appeal and stewardship program, and an individual donor portfolio.

  Responsibilities

GRANT MANAGEMENT  

• Design, implement and oversee the overall grant program/strategy.
• Maintain the master grants database/dashboard including funder names, contact info, proposal calendar, award status, reporting requirements, and compliance obligations.
• Research funding opportunities to determine the alignment between the funder’s priorities and the YWRC’s mission, demographics, and programming.
• Collaborate with colleagues to select grant projects and to ensure well-informed grant proposals.
• Develop and maintain a toolkit of reusable grant materials.
• Complete compelling grant applications that faithfully adhere to the guidelines of each funder.
• Lead the submission of grant reports to ensure requirements and deadlines are met.
• Build and steward relationships with grantors.

FUNDRAISING 

• Lead the annual appeal campaigns.
• Generate and oversee YWRC direct mailings, electronic appeals, and associated digital content, as well as engagement mailings and mailings to donors who have lapsed in giving.
• Manage a portfolio of individual donors.
• Implement stewardship activities for annual campaign and portfolio donors.
• Utilize CRM to track and manage funder information and to record contacts with notes or other pertinent information.

DATA MANAGEMENT

• Ensure accurate donors records and fundraising data in the CRM.
• Record all donations (cash, in-kind, events) to the CRM in a timely manner.
• Create and distribute receipts, acknowledgements, and year-end giving statements following Financial Policies and internal procedures.
• Support the financial reconciliation of donations between the development department and the finance department.
• Produce and utilize fundraising reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to recommend improvements.

SPECIAL EVENTS 

• Collaborate on all fundraising events.
• Lead the administrative functions of events including software tools and apps, registration/receipts, and reporting.
• Build and steward relationships with corporate sponsors, individual donors/sponsors, and 3 rd party event hosts. 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES  

• Stay current on trends and best practices related to fundraising.
• Attend agency meetings and additional staff trainings as required including team, staff, and committee meetings.
• Attend community events as a YWRC representative.
• Work with and supervise interns and volunteers as appropriate to fulfill job duties and department functions.
• Support YWRC marketing and communication efforts.
• Any other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

REQUIRED:  

• Philosophical agreement with YWRC’s mission, vision, values, and work.
• Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
• 2 years’ experience in grant writing with a proven track record of success.
• 2 years’ experience in fundraising or a related field.
• Excellent writing skills demonstrating clear, persuasive and succinct narratives.
• Extraordinary interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills.
• Highly skilled in managing multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.
• Proficient with grant databases, research tools, and online grant platforms.
• Strong skills in the usage of Microsoft Office Suite, CRMs or database software, laptops, and cell phone/tablet devices.
• One-year experience working with diverse populations.
• Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to personal vehicle
• Passage of all required criminal history background checks. 

PREFERRED:  

• Familiarity with Trauma Informed Care/Trauma Responsive Care.
• Fluency in a second language. Spanish preferred.
• Membership/s in the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Mid Iowa Planned Giving, or other professional fundraising organizations
• Experience in event planning.
