SUMMARY
Northline Seafoods is a seafood processing company seeking an experienced and motivated Marine Electrician. This is a year-round, full-time position based in Bellingham, WA, with seasonal deployment to Bristol Bay, AK, during the salmon processing season (70+ days).
During the off-season (approximately September through May), this role will be based in Bellingham while the vessel is docked. From June through August, the Marine Electrician will work aboard a stationary floating processing facility anchored near Dillingham, Alaska, supporting operations during the Bristol Bay salmon season.
The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach, strong leadership skills, and a willingness to collaborate across the maintenance, electrical, and refrigeration departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Work collaboratively with electrical, IT, refrigeration, and maintenance staff to ensure efficient barge operations and maximize production.
Plan and install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, including all electrical terminations.
Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams, and drawings to install, diagnose, repair, replace, and calibrate electrical components (relays, switches, motors, sensors, circuit boards, transformers, lighting, and programmable controllers).
Perform predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on all barge electrical systems under the direction of the Chief Engineer, including power generation, refrigeration plant, electrical, fuel, HVAC, pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps, motors and controls, reverse osmosis, emergency, and deck equipment.
Repair and maintain power distribution switchboards, generators, and all other power distribution components.
Repair and overhaul electric motors and controls.
Complete required safety trainings, emphasizing OSHA and Coast Guard regulations.
Lead the electrical team with a focus on safety and a zero-accident mindset.
Maintain the barge and engine room in a clean and orderly condition, as inspections may occur at any time.
Perform other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous supervisory experience leading a team of electrical technicians preferred.
Experience working aboard a processing ship or barge is a plus.
Strong knowledge of barge electrical systems, including power generation, refrigeration, fuel, HVAC, pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps, motors and controls, reverse osmosis, emergency, and deck equipment.
Experience troubleshooting electrical issues on refrigeration plants is highly preferred.
Ability to train staff in safety protocols, including OSHA, Coast Guard, and NEC regulations.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with maintenance staff and the engineering team.
Ability to solve problems and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work 12+ hour days, 7 days per week during the 70+ day Bristol Bay season.

The Marine Electrician works aboard a floating barge anchored in Bristol Bay, AK during the peak season, with off-season duties in Bellingham, WA where the barge is docked. This role requires maintaining the safe and efficient operation of all electrical systems through predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance. Employees must be able to stand, walk, and navigate a barge environment in wet and cold conditions for extended periods, including long workdays of up to 12–16 hours in Alaska. The position also involves climbing stairs, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds independently, or up to 100 pounds with assistance.
