SALARY
$47,000 annually / $28.25 hourly

LOCATION
Peace Over Violence West San Gabriel Valley Center (Pasadena)

SUMMARY

Peace Over Violence seeks a full-time Legal Case Manager with demonstrated commitment to supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, and interpersonal violence. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary legal services team that includes attorneys, advocates, and support staff utilizing a holistic, survivor-centered, and trauma-informed approach to legal advocacy and support services.

Under the supervision of the Managing Attorney and Senior Family Law Attorney, the Legal Case Manager will provide legal advocacy, crisis support, case coordination, and assistance with legal documentation and court preparation. This position requires ongoing client communication, case tracking, and coordination with community partners to support survivors navigating the legal system.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, experience working with trauma survivors, and a sincere commitment to public interest and survivor-centered advocacy.

Client Advocacy & Case Management

  • Conduct initial screenings, legal intakes, and assessments of client legal and supportive service needs.

  • Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, resources, and referrals to survivors in person and through the 24-hour hotline.

  • Maintain and manage an active client caseload, including follow-up communication and case coordination.

  • Assist clients in understanding court procedures, legal processes, and hearing preparation.

  • Prepare clients for hearings, restraining order appointments, DCFS appointments, and related legal proceedings.

  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding appointments, court dates, referrals, and case updates.

Legal Support Services

  • Assist attorneys and legal staff with preparation, organization, and filing of legal documents and court forms.

  • Support legal clinics and community-based legal workshops on topics relevant to survivors.

  • Provide assistance and legal advocacy support when appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate case notes, documentation, and legal database records in compliance with confidentiality standards, grant requirements, and organizational policies.

  • Monitor hearing dates, filing deadlines, and case-related documentation from case opening through resolution.

Community Collaboration & Outreach

  • Provide advocacy and follow-up with law enforcement agencies, courts, schools, housing providers, and community partners when appropriate.

  • Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with criminal justice agencies, social service providers, and community organizations.

  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and organizational activities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Minimum of 1- 2 years of experience providing legal advocacy or case management services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or related trauma.

  • Experience assisting with restraining orders and family law advocacy preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of crisis intervention, domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, child abuse/neglect, and trauma-informed care.

  • Peace Over Violence’s 82-hour counselor/advocate training or equivalent training required.

  • Ability to work effectively and empathetically with survivors, families, volunteers, staff, and community partners in a nonjudgmental manner.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate documentation and case records.

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration within a team environment.

  • Comfortable working with diverse communities throughout Los Angeles County and Pasadena.

  • Capacity to balance self-care while working within a crisis-response environment.

  • Basic computer literacy required.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.

  • Flexible schedule with availability for occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
