Lateral Police Officer – Up to $118K | Longmont Police Department

The Longmont Police Department is hiring experienced Lateral Police Officers with Colorado POST certification (or eligibility). Earn $93,768–$118,536 annually based on experience, with opportunities in specialized units, strong benefits, and career advancement.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $93,768 – $118,536 (based on years of experience)

Lateral hires are placed at the step equivalent to their qualified years of service of qualified service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned areas by vehicle, bicycle, or foot to maintain public safety 
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service 
  • Conduct criminal investigations and gather evidence 
  • Enforce traffic and criminal laws 
  • Engage with the community to solve problems and build trust 
  • Provide first aid and emergency response services 
  • Prepare reports and testify in court 

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Colorado POST Basic Certification or Provisional Certification (or ability to obtain prior to hire) 
  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-time law enforcement experience 
  • Successful completion of a field training program 
  • Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain a Colorado license) 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire 

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 60 semester hours of college credit 
    • (Waiver available with agreement to complete within five years; tuition assistance provided)
