What You'll Do: Principal Asset Management is seeking an Accountant to join our Direct Lending Investment Accounting team. This is a great opportunity for someone that has knowledge or strong interest in investments and fund accounting, specifically middle market direct lending assets! Our Principal Alternative Credit Direct Lending accounting team is responsible for daily investment accounting and monthly fund reporting. Functions on the team include fund accounting, calculating fund and asset performance, investment team reporting, instrument level processing, security builds, valuation and impairments and financial controls. A successful candidate is a motivated self-starter, embraces change, and can work both independently and as part of a team. Meeting deadlines, control focused, attention to detail will be key in this role! - Working with investment teams to understand evolving business needs and reporting.
- Serving as lead for Funds' financials of growing direct lending assets. Including owning financial controls, reviewing financial data, reporting results, and forecasting. This role will assist in preparation of financial statements and audit.
- Calculating and reviewing funds and asset level performance returns
- Understanding and reconciling data between systems for accounting, performance metrics, and reporting.
Who You Are: - Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience required
- 4+ years experience required
- CPA preferred
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Exposure to investment accounting experience preferred, specifically with fund accounting and middle market direct lending assets
Skills that help you stand out:
- Works well with team members, detail-oriented, ability to manage deadlines
- Knowledge of investment accounting systems and data query tools is preferred (ex: Allvue, MarkitEDM, PAM Investments, AWS, SQL etc.)
- Control focus, including ensuring compliance with regulatory internal control (SOX)
Salary Range Information: Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range: $71250 - $86000 / year Additional Information:

This role offers the ability for in-office and hybrid (blending both office and remote work in a typical workweek) work arrangements. You'll work with your leader to determine which option may align best based on several factors.
