ABOUT CASTILLEJA
Castilleja is a dynamic, diverse, and intentional educational community for students in grades 6–12 that believes in the power of women learning and women leading. Founded in 1907, Castilleja fulfills its mission to educate young women to become confident thinkers and compassionate leaders with a sense of purpose to effect change in the world. Every member of the Castilleja community is responsible for fostering an equitable, respectful, and just community. We value building and sustaining authentic relationships and work together to create a collaborative learning and working environment. We are dedicated to a program that is responsive to students’ needs and identities and demonstrates a commitment to antiracist values and pedagogy.
TEACHING AT CASTILLEJA
At Castilleja we know that students thrive when learning happens within and beyond classroom walls and when students actively witness engagement in the greater community by the adults in their lives. Employees are invited to and supported as they connect with our larger programming, advise students, and inspire new ways to bring the mission alive on campus. We seek educators who aspire to engage differences with courage, honesty, intellectual curiosity, respect, and humility. Specifically, the History-Social Science Department seeks candidates who understand the “how” and “why” of History and someone who is ready to contribute to a larger program that connects History to our present and future. This teacher will teach four sections of 7th Grade History, which is a continuation of the study of civilizations begun in the 6th grade, serve as a 7th grade advisor, and support Middle School programming. This position reports to the Department Lead and Academic Leadership and works closely with fellow department members.
