Selm, Germany , is seeking a dedicated
Hair & Makeup Assistant Intern . We specialize in premium editorial magazine shoots, commercial campaigns, celebrity styling, and productions across film, television, and theater.
This position is structured as an
unpaid, mandatory internship ( Pflichtpraktikum ) . It is strictly open to non-students and students who require a placement as a compulsory component of their university, beauty school, or vocational curriculum. You will receive direct mentorship from professional artists, observing and assisting on high-profile sets throughout
North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) .
Educational Learning Objectives
- Media-Specific Artistry: Learn how makeup applications and hair styling techniques shift between static editorial photography, 4K digital film/TV cameras, and heavy live theater lighting.
- Sanitation & Kit Ergonomics: Master the strict hygiene, tool sterilization, and workspace organization protocols required on high-turnover professional sets.
- Continuity & Script Tracking: Understand how hair and makeup continuity is tracked across multi-day film, television, and theater productions.
- Product Knowledge: Deepen your understanding of cosmetic ingredients, color theory, skin preparation, and hair texture manipulation across diverse talent.
Key Responsibilities (Under Direct Supervision)- Station Preparation: Set up, organize, and maintain the cleanliness of the hair and makeup stations before, during, and after shoots.
- Kit Management: Assist in tracking product inventory, cleaning brushes/tools, and packing styling kits for travel to sets across NRW.
- On-Set Touch-ups: Shadow the lead artist on set and assist with minor, guided touch-ups (e.g., managing flyaways, blotting shine) between takes.
- Mood Boards & Continuity: Help document look changes via continuity photos and research visual references for upcoming creative concepts.
Requirements & Qualifications - Enrollment Status: Current enrollment in an accredited vocational beauty academy, hair/makeup school, or university media program (e.g., Maskenbild, Kosmetik, Media Arts).
- Documentation: Provision of an official school certification ( Pflichtpraktikumsnachweis ) confirming that this internship is a mandatory requirement of your regulations.
- Language Skills: Professional working proficiency in either German or English.
- Skills & Traits: Basic foundational knowledge of hair or makeup application, impeccable personal hygiene habits, high reliability, and a calm demeanor under pressure.
- Mobility: Flexibility to travel to various set locations and studio environments throughout North Rhine-Westphalia.
